"Like plants photosynthesising, a daily cycle would begin by turing the sun's first light into energy. We, the students (or cells), would wake together, to the sounds of an international soundtrack (usually Colombian 'Cumbia' in my residence), convene for a communal breakfast of typical Costa Rican rice and beans— "Gallo Pinto" (sustenance), and eventually 'skip' to the mornings classes. There we would help each other translate and interpret the teacher's teachings, —who at this point, was not so much the classic know-it-all professor from home, but simply an older person who knew more that you, and was happy to share that knowledge amongst an eager audience. After classes a typical Costa Rican lunch, of rice and beans, would tie us over for the afternoon's activities."
