Scholarships and Places available in 2008:

1	One full scholarship to Armand Hammer, UWC of the American West , New Mexico, USA for an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident, currently living in New South Wales. This is a full scholarship and will cover all tuition and board.  Parents pay for travel expenses and pocket money.
2	One full scholarship to the Li Po Chun United World College in Hong Kong for an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident, currently living in Victoria. This is a full scholarship and will cover all tuition and board. Parents pay for travel expenses and pocket money..
3	One full scholarship to the United World College of the Atlantic for an Australian indigenous student living in Any State This is a full scholarship and will cover all tuition and board. Parents pay for travel expenses and pocket money..
4	One 50% Scholarship to UWC Costa Rica for an Australia citizen or Permanent Resident, currently living in any State. This scholarship will require parental contribution for the remaining 50%.

Please note: 

• Applications for Scholarship entry in September 2008 must be received by:
  
  NSW, QLD, ACT, NT: 4 April 2008
  
  VIC, TAS, SA, WA: 11 April 2008

• Interviews for NSW, QLD, ACT, NT will be held on
  Saturday 12th April in Sydney. Please note that NSW interviewees will
  be expected to attend from 10am-4pm so should keep the day free.
  Candidates selected for interview will be notified by April 9.
  
  
• Interviews for VIC, TAS, SA, WA will be held on Saturday 19th April in Melbourne. Candidates selected for interview will be notified by April 14.
  
  
• All Candidates will be notified by mail after selections are finalised.

To be eligible for a scholarship you must be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident and currently studying Year 11 or 12.

• Full scholarships cover all tuition and accommodation costs.

• Applicants must be Australian citizens or Permanent Residents currently living in Australia.

 

Selection Criteria

1. Successful candidates must be:

Australian citizens or Permanent Residents, currently living in Australia.

2.  Successful candidates will usually be aged 16 or 17 in Year 11 or 12 (or equivalent) and demonstrate the following qualities:

• Academic strengths which indicate a strong likelihood of success in the IB program;
• Willingness to befriend and learn from people whose ideas, beliefs and cultural backgrounds may be very different to their own;
• The ability to be a good ambassador for Australia in the environment of a UWC;
• The ability to gain the most from the opportunity and to contribute to college life (relevant qualities include commitment to service, openness of mind, enthusiasm, balance, good humour, the ability to thrive in a foreign environment, emotional strength, and physical fitness);
• An active contributor to the life of their school or wider community;
• Involvement in cultural, artistic or sporting activities.

3 Other things being equal, preference will be given to a student who would not otherwise have access to such an experience or who would gain the most from the opportunity.
