Scholarships and Places available in 2010:

One full scholarship to UWC Costa Rica for an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident, currently living in New South Wales. This is a full scholarship and will cover all tuition, insurance and board. Parents pay for travel expenses and pocket money. This scholarship is subject to confirmation. |

One 60% scholarship to the Li Po Chun United World College in Hong Kong for an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident, currently living in any State or Territory. This scholarship will require parental contribution for the remaining 40% tuition fees and board (approx 162,400 HKD or $A 25,060* over two years) as well as travel expenses and pocket money. However, the recipient of this scholarship will also receive a bursary from UWC Australia of $A 10,000 over the two years ($5,000 pa) to help defray these costs. |

One 50% scholarship to the United World College Maastricht in the Netherlands for an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident living in any State or Territory. This scholarship will require parental contribution for the remaining 50% tuition fees and board (approx 23,000 Euro or $A 38,320* over two years) as well as travel expenses and pocket money. |

One place to the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales, United Kingdom for an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident living in any State or Territory. This is an unfunded position and will require 100% parental contribution for all tuition, insurance and board (approx 44,000 UKP or $A 83,220* over two years) as well as travel expenses and pocket money. |

- Interviews for all states will be held on
Sunday 18 April 2010. Please note that NSW interviewees will
be expected to attend from 10am-4pm so should keep the day free.
Candidates selected for interview will be notified as soon as possible.
- All Candidates will be notified by mail after selections are finalised.
To be eligible for a scholarship you must be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident and currently studying Year 11 or 12.
Selection Criteria
1. Successful candidates must be:
Australian citizens or Permanent Residents, currently living in Australia.
2. Successful candidates will usually be aged 16 or 17 in Year 11 or 12 (or equivalent) and demonstrate the following qualities:
- Academic strengths which indicate a strong likelihood of success in the IB program;
- Willingness to befriend and learn from people whose ideas, beliefs and cultural backgrounds may be very different to their own;
- The ability to be a good ambassador for Australia in the environment of a UWC;
- The ability to gain the most from the opportunity and to contribute to college life (relevant qualities include commitment to service, openness of mind, enthusiasm, balance, good humour, the ability to thrive in a foreign environment, emotional strength, and physical fitness);
- An active contributor to the life of their school or wider community;
- Involvement in cultural, artistic or sporting activities.
3. Other things being equal, preference will be given to a student who would not otherwise have access to such an experience or who would gain the most from the opportunity.
